Play Bingo, Jose Caraballo riding, wins the $100,000 Northern Dancer Stakes at Pimlico.

It took Play Bingo nearly nine months after his first start to finally win a race. Once he learned how it's done, Play Bingo hasn't been beaten.

The 3-year-old Play Bingo extended his winning streak to five races when he drew off to a 5 1/4-length victory in the $100,000 at Pimlico.

It was the first stakes victory for the John "Doc" Fisher-trained Play Bingo, who needed three starts beyond his career debut in October 2003 to win his maiden in July at Delaware Park.

Aided by a fast pace of 1:11.17 for the first six furlongs of the 1 1/8-mile race, set by dueling leaders Water Cannon and Diamond David, Play Bingo ($5.60) swung five wide into the stretch and overtook Water Cannon inside the eighth pole. He covered the nine furlongs in 1:52.34.

Water Cannon, making his first start since the Ohio Derby in June, hung on for second, a length in front of 45-1 longshot Hastego.
