Piensa Sonando takes Native Diver

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Piensa Sonando won his first stakes in the U.S. in Saturday's $100,000 Native Diver Handicap at Hollywood Park.

Ridden by Laffit Pincay, Jr., Piensa Sonando ($7) rallied from fifth on the backstretch to catch Fleetstreet Dancer in the final stride and won by a head. Piensa Sonando finished 1 1-8 miles in 1:48.43 and needed all that distance to reach the front.

Fleetstreet Dancer took over in early stretch, passing longtime leaders Gentle Giant and Daunting. Piensa Sonando rallied along the rail, moved outside in early stretch and just caught Fleetstreet Dancer.

Nose the Trade, an English import who raced on the all-weather circuit in that country, finished third, followed by Daunting, Gentle Giant, Dig For It, Euchre and Grey Memo.

Piensa Sonando was a stakes winner in Chile last year. A 4-year-old, Piensa Sonando races for Nelson Bunker Hunt and trainer Ron McAnally.
