ARCADIA, Calif. - Wednesday's pick six at Santa Anita returned $1,258,755.40 to two ticketholders on a day when three longshots paid $17 or higher.

The tickets were purchased at Sam Houston Race Park and through the Gulfstream Park hub, according to Santa Anita officials. Following a two-day carryover of $751,394 from Sunday, bettors added $3,180,817 to the pick six on Wednesday.

The winners of the pick-six races were Ask Kathy ($10.80), Legal Logic ($43), Start Yodeling ($21.40), Fly to the Wire ($5.60), Senor Swinger ($17.60), and Surefire Success ($7). Fly to the Wire and Surefire Success were favored.

The victory by Legal Logic doomed many tickets. Legal Logic beat Sigfreto, the 3-5 favorite and a key on many tickets. Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Sigfreto was well placed along the rail in early stretch of a starter allowance at 1 1/4 miles on turf but could not find a clear path in the final two furlongs and was beaten 1 1/4 lengths.

Bettors reacted to Sigfreto's loss with a chorus of boos.

The Sigfreto loss was the start of a frustrating day for Gomez, who through Wednesday was second in the standings with 33 wins, five behind Patrick Valenzuela.

Gomez was beaten in the fifth race on 7-5 favorite Renker, who finished ninth. In the seventh race, the $81,450 Thunder Road Handicap, Gomez rode 3-1 favorite Terroplane, who finished a head behind winner Senor Swinger.
