ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Phil’s Cocktail ($15.50) parlayed a four-wide stalking trip into a decisive 2 1/4-length tally Saturday in the $125,000 Frost King Stakes at Woodbine.

Executive One set moderate fractions in the seven-furlong sprint, while being pressed by Seffeara. Phil’s Cocktail joined the leaders on the turn and hit the front at the head of the stretch before drawing clear to complete the distance in 1:22.94.

Goodoldhockeygame, the 3-5 favorite, rallied from seventh for second, and Super Colerosa checked in third in the eight-horse field of Ontario-sired 2-year-olds. Three Ring Circus was scratched.

David Moran got a leg up from trainer John LeBlanc Jr. on Phil’s Cocktail, who banked $75,000 in his second stakes victory for owner-breeder Ron Clarkson.

“The one horse pushed me wide, so I just let him get on about it,” Moran said. “We were pretty confident that the trip would be good for him because we think he’ll have no trouble going two turns. He’s a beautiful-moving horse.”
