Philly: 'Dynamite' finds softer spot

Dynamite Flyer, ambitiously placed against Grade 3 stakes company at Saratoga after winning the first three starts of his career, meets far easier company in the $50,000 Yankee Affair, a 1 1/16-mile turf race restricted to Pennsylvania-breds at Philadelphia Park.

A son of Dynaformer trained by Sanna Hendriks, Dynamite Flyer steadily improved his Beyers from 83 to 93 while winning twice at Delaware and once at Saratoga. He was competitive in the 1 3/16-mile Saranac Handicap until fading in the final eighth.

The 5-year-old mare Caught in the Rain, a two-time graded stakes winner, has dominated the filly and mare statebred division. Her winning Beyer of 87 in last month's Mrs. Penny indicates she fits against this group of males.

Sir Echo, an amazing 13-year-old, won the 2002 Yankee Affair and proved he's still able to compete at this level in two good performances this summer.

Part-time steeplechaser Mixed Up has won three of his last four turf races on the flat, including the Capital City at Penn National in August.

Yo is 0 for 3 on grass, but was a close second in last year's Yankee Affair.
