Philadelphia Park: Abderian rallies

Jockey Victor Molina claimed he wasn't worried when Abderian still was lagging behind in seventh place with only a quarter-mile remaining in the five-furlong Turf Monster.

"I know at this track, the turf turns are very tight," Molina said. "Especially in the turf sprints, the speed horses can have trouble making those turns. That's what happened. The whole inside opened up for me and set up perfectly."

Abderian ($14.40) rallied along the rail and held off a late run by last year's winner, Testify, to prevail by 1 1/4 lengths. It was the first victory in two years for the 7-year-old Abderian, trained by Ben Feliciano Jr., and enabled him to surpass the $340,000 mark in career earnings.
