Parx Racing will hold a fundraiser on Saturday to benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockey's Fund and Turning for Home, Parx's on-site Thoroughbred retirement program, which is managed by the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association. Jockeys Javier Castellano, Kent Desormeaux, Mario Gutierrez, and Mike Smith have agreed to sign a specially created poster for anyone who donates a minimum donation of $10, according to Sam Elliott, the track's director of racing. The front of the 11x17 inch poster has a photo of Pennsylvania Derby favorites Nyquist and Exaggerator side by side with a photo of Cotillion favorites Songbird and Cathryn Sophia. The back of the poster had information on the PDJF and Turning for Home. Desormeaux is the rider of Exaggerator; Gutierrez is the regular rider of Nyquist; Smith rides Songbird; and Castellano will be aboard Cathryn Sophia. Other local and visiting riders at Parx on Saturday will be on hand to sign autographs.
