Perfect Story wins at two turns

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Perfect Story earned herself a likely starting berth in the Grade 2 Bonnie Miss Stakes on March 14 with a very professional two-length victory over a game but overmatched Final Round in Wednesday's co-featured eighth race at Gulfstream Park.

Perfect Story, a 3-year-old half-sister to Point Given by Tale of the Cat out of Turko's Turn, was making her two-turn debut on Wednesday. She stalked the early pace of Maria's Mojo while well in hand under jockey Edgar Prado, moved readily to command before six furlongs, then easily turned back a challenge from Final Round through the stretch.

"It's always good to get the first two-turn race out of the way," said John Ward, who trains Perfect Story for John Oxley. "This race should set her up to do a little more next time."

Perfect Story covered a mile and 70 yards in 1:41.40 and paid $2.80 as the prohibitive favorite in a field of six 3-year-old fillies. She was also responsible for a minus show pool of $28,118.60.
