Peppers Pride will break from post 2 in a field of eight on Sunday at Ruidoso Downs in the $67,500 Lincoln Handicap, a race in which she will attempt to set a North American Thoroughbred record of 17 consecutive wins. The undefeated Peppers Pride shares the modern mark of 16 straight wins with Cigar, Citation, Hallowed Dreams and Mister Frisky.

The Lincoln, a six-furlong race restricted to fillies and mares bred in New Mexico, had to be rescheduled for Sunday after Ruidoso was hit by seven inches of rain on the race's original date of July 27.

"She's doing really good," said Joel Marr, who has trained Peppers Pride throughout her career for breeder Joe Allen. "She's aggressive, but focused. She's extremely eager to do things. She's feeling terrific. It's all coming together."

Carlos Madeira has the mount on Peppers Pride. She will be making her first start since April 26, when she won the $75,000 Foutz Distaff Handicap at SunRay Park in Farmington, N.M. Peppers Pride will start as the 127-pound highweight in the Lincoln, and will spot each of her rivals between 10 and 14 pounds. The race will go as the 10th on a 12-race card, with a post of 4:12 p.m. Mountain. The Lincoln is scheduled to be shown on TVG.
