All $3,500 claiming competition isn't equal. Te Jay Tejabo ($7), winless in 15 starts over the last two years, shipped from Charles Town to Penn National on March 17 and crushed $3,500 horses by 11 1/4 lengths going a mile.

It was the first horse former Penn National-based trainer Ronney Brown has started at the current meet.

* Mr. Tickety Boo ($11.80) has proven a good claim for Steve Brown. Taken for $5,000 at Charles Town in December, Mr. Tickety Boo won his second in a row for Brown in a one-other-than allowance worth $15,500 in race 7 on March 17.

* Trainer John Zimmerman got away entering the 3-year-old filly Trial Heat ($7.20), a first-time starter, for a $7,500 claiming tag in last Saturday's second race. Trial Heat opened up a 12-length lead and coasted home a seven-length winner.
