Penn National adds five Wednesday cards in May, June

In an attempt to make up for numerous programs that were wiped out by a severe winter in central Pennsylvania, Penn National Race Course has added five Wednesday race cards during May and June.

The Pennsylvania Racing Commission granted approval for Penn National to add live racing on all four Wednesdays in May, beginning May 7, and June 4. The five additional days were requested by the Pennsylvania Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association, which represents the horsemen racing at Penn National.

“After a difficult winter that saw the cancelation of 17 race cards during the months of January and February, we are pleased to offer these opportunities back to our horsemen,” said Eric Johnston, director of racing operations.

First post for the five additional days will be consistent with the current schedule at 6 p.m. Eastern.
