Patton's Victory wins again

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Patton's Victory, who was racing for a claiming price of $7,500 in October, picked up his fifth straight win Wednesday when he led throughout for a length score in the Grade 3, $100,000 Fifth Season at Oaklawn Park.

Patton's Victory ($26.60) broke well, and led the field uncontested through fractions of 23.60 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.60 for the half before covering 1 1/16 miles over a fast track in 1:43.26.

Colorful Tour, who was looking for his sixth straight win, rallied strongly but had to settle for second, 3 1/4 lengths clear of third-place finisher Makors Mark.

Alex Birzer rode Patton's Victory for Highway 1 Racing Stable and trainer Stanley Roberts.

The horse's win streak started on Oct. 4, when he won a $7,500 claiming race at Hoosier Park. He proceeded to win two starter races at Oaklawn before taking an optional claimer here March 16.

Patton's Victory earned $60,000 for his win in the Fifth Season, which improved his record to eight wins from 22 starts and earnings of $112,188.
