Pat of Gold bred to be a good one

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Pat of Gold should appreciate what is likely going to be a fast and contested pace in the seventh race at Hastings Sunday. The 6 1/2-furlong $50,000 optional claiming race for 3-year-old fillies drew seven horses and it appears to be a wide-open event.

Pat of Gold is a very well-bred filly and she's shown a lot of potential in her three starts. Pat of Gold is by Regal Remark and out of mare that has produced three horses that have earned over $200,000. Two of them, Alberta Oaks winner Golden Remark and Glance Remark, are full siblings to Pat of Gold, and she has another full brother, Crescent Remark, who is a stakes winner and earner of $163,000.

Pat of Gold is coming off of a very good effort in a similar race July 6. She made a strong move to finish second behind Wind Storm. Pat of Gold, trained by Pat Jarvis, will be ridden by Pedro Alvarado.

Loving Laur, who is trained by Cindy Krasner, could be favored off of her third-place finish behind Napa in the 1 1/16-mile Supernaturel Handicap July 7. Loving Laur won a maiden special race sprinting June 24, so she shouldn't mind the cutback in distance.

Dance Odyssey is the speed of the speed, and she figures to take a big step forward in her second start of the year. In her initial outing she set a very fast pace before tiring to finish fifth in the same race Pat of Gold exits.

Kokopelli Wind is taking a significant step up in class following her sharp win over $25,000 maidens.
