Pat Answer one to catch at two turns

Email

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Pat Answer could be hard to catch in the feature race at Hastings Saturday. The 6 1/2-furlong allowance race for 2-year-old fillies that have not won a stakes drew five horses and goes as the seventh race.

Trained by Jim Loseth, Pat Answer has shown very good speed in her two races, both at 3 1/2 furlongs. Like many first-time starters, Pat Answer was a bit

hesitant leaving the starting gate when she debuted in a maiden special weight race Oct. 9. Nevertheless, she quickly gained momentum and closed strongly to finish a close second. A homebred daughter of Net Asset, Pat Answer made no mistakes in her second start. Breaking sharply, she battled for the early lead and was drawing away at the finish while being ridden out.

Pat Answer is also well bred. She's a half-sister to sprint stakes winner Hall Dancer. With a solid five-furlong work Nov. 11, she has a good chance to carry her speed around two turns. Dave Wilson will ride.

One of the Feu looks like the main threat. Trained by Demetris Topouzis, One of the Feu is coming off of fourth-place finish in a 6 1/2 furlong optional $25,000 race Oct. 22. The race was open to colts and geldings, and the heavily favored winner, Arizona Drifter, had been stakes placed earlier in the meet.

One of the Feu won a 3 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race in her debut and then finished last as the favorite in CTHS Sales Stakes Sept. 11.
