Parx: Inspired rebounds with Turf Amazon victory

Email

Inspired beat Bounding Bi by one length on Monday in the $200,000 Turf Amazon for fillies and mares over a soft course at Parx Racing.

Flashing speed as she usually does, Inspired hooked up early with California invader Nechez Dawn right from the start. Inspired pulled clear of that rival entering the turn and was well in front turning for home. Bounding Bi recovered from a bad stumble at the break to get the place spot with a strong inside move.

Sensible Lady, the 7-5 favorite who had won three consecutive stakes coming in, was third.

It was the fifth victory, all stakes races, this season for Inspired, a 5-year-old homebred for Peter E. Blum. Roberto Alvarado Jr. was aboard for trainer Allen Iwinski. It was a nice rebound for Inspired, who finished second, beaten only a neck, in her previous race, the Klassy Briefcase Stakes at Monmouth Park.
Inspired, now 8 for 21 overall, ran eighth in last year's Turf Amazon.

She paid $10.40 to win. The time was 1:00.87 for the five furlongs.

Nechez Dawn was fourth followed by Ms. Cruisen', Rosa Salvaje, Well Deserved, You Need Me, Suzee Sunrise and Dove Season.
