Parioli's Legacy tries going longer off win last out

Email

AUBURN, Wash. - Coming off a win at a mile, Parioli's Legacy will attempt to stretch her speed another sixteenth of a mile against similar opposition in Thursday's Emerald Downs feature, which is for $20,000 fillies and mares.

Parioli's Legacy, trained by Jim Penney, posted a front-running 1o3/4-length victory on July 13 in a rapid 1:36 for the mile. She figures to be on the lead again on Thursday - but has yet to race at the 1 1/16-mile distance, and she was losing ground late in her recent victory. Gallyn Mitchell, who rode her last out, will be aboard again.

You and I Honey was cutting into Parioli's Legacy's margin in the July 13 race and again figures to be a late factor. You and I Honey, trained by Dayson Lavanway, came from eight lengths back that day to lose by less than two lengths. She was disqualified from second and placed fourth for interfering with a rival.

You and I Honey figures to benefit by the extra ground on Thursday. She gets a new rider in A. L. Gutierrez.

Also dangerous is Arsen Annie, who has finished no worse than fourth in five starts at the meeting.

Arsen Annie, trained by Bill Smith, defeated $25,000 rivals at six furlongs two races back and was narrowly defeated by the streaking Victory Script last out, going 6 1/2 furlongs on July 8.
