Pair of upsets at in New Jersey Juvenile

Love Who and Karmageddon, both 9-2 second choices, pulled off mild upsets over odd-on favorites Friday night in the $60,000 divisions of the New Jersey Juvenile at the Meadowlands.

The races are the richest events of the season for 2-year-olds bred in New Jersey.

Love Who, fourth in his previous effort in the Maryland Millions Nursery at Laurel, romped by 10 3/4 lengths on Friday. Stewart Elliott was aboard.

A son of Not for Love, Love Who set the pace under early pressure before drawing off to his second win in five starts. Trained by Steven Krebs, Love Who ran the six furlongs in 1:09.02 on the track labeled fast on a showery evening.

Richiefromshoprite, the 7-10 favorite, rallied to be a distant second, with Pinelands Pete third.

In the filly division, Karmageddon got up by a nose over Our Eponene, with first-time starter NJ Esq also right there in a blanket three-horse finish.

It was the second win in three starts for Karmageddon, a daughter of Wildcat Heir. Chuckie Lopez rode for trainer Doug Nunn as Karmageddon was clocked in 1:10.46.

The entry of Our Eponene and fourth-place finisher Lil Kiara were the 4-5 favorites.
