Pair of Sale Stakes top card


EDMONTON, Alberta - Kaylee's Magic, who won the open Princess Margaret by 6 1/2 lengths, tops the $60,000 Filly Sale Stakes for 2-year-olds here Saturday. The filly Sale Stakes drew nine entrants, with the $60,000 Sale Stakes for 2-year-old colts and geldings attracting a field of eight.

Both races go at 6 1/2 furlongs, with the fillies carrying 117 pounds and the colts and geldings 118 pounds.

The twin stakes are designed to bring attention to the annual summer sale of the Alberta division of the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society. More than 200 yearlings go under the hammer Saturday and Sunday evening.

Ranking just below the Greg Tracy-trained Kaylee's Magic in the filly race is Ain't No Options, trained by Rick Hedge. The other entrants are Elusive Storm, Slew's City Girl, Lasting Gift, Nashwaak Dancer, Tartan Star, W W Dot Gone, and Editing.

Blue Storm, ridden by Quincy Welch, and Teagues Fight, with Ron Blinston up, head the male division of the Sales Stakes. Each has won a maiden race. Teagues Fight also finished fourth in the open Edmonton Juvenile and another maiden race, while Blue Storm has made only the one start.

Others in this field are Sweetwood, Remarkable Weekend, Domesticdisturbanz, Dial a Magic, Redwhite and Yahoo, and Inseeko.
