LEXINGTON, Ky. - After taking a day off on Friday, the 12-day Keeneland September yearling sale resumed with its fifth session on Saturday. As of 4:30 p.m., the session leaders at the Lexington auction were a pair of $300,000 lots, a Forest Wildcat filly and a Cherokee Run colt.

David Shimmon's Fog City Stable purchased the Forest Wildcat filly, who sold as Hip No. 1472. The filly is out of the winning Proof mare Sparkle Proof, making her a half-sister to the winners Dusty Sparkle and Yanaba. Her dam, Sparkle Proof, is a full sister to the stakes winner Aspiring Proof. Beth Bayer, agent, consigned the Florida-bred filly.

The $300,000 Cherokee Run colt sold about an hour after the filly as Hip No. 1515. Desperado Stables bought the colt from consignor John Williams, agent. The dark bay or brown colt is out of Trustbuster, a winning daughter of champion sprinter Housebuster and half-sister to stakes winner Three Diamonds. The Kentucky-bred colt is from the family of champion juvenile filly Epitome.

The sale is to continue through Sept. 21, with continuous sessions beginning daily at 10 a.m. in the Keeneland sale pavilion.
