Padua buys Kentucky property

Padua Stables, the racing and breeding operation of Satish and Anne Sanan, has purchased the former Bluegrass Heights Farm near Lexington, Ky., and will move its operations to the 275-acre property.

The farm was previously owned by Horace Davis III, his wife, Kathi, and his mother, Marian Davis. The property is adjacent to Three Chimneys Farm, which will operate the farm on behalf of Padua, according to the Sanans.

The Sanans have been buying Thoroughbreds at auctions since 1997, and in 1998 the couple purchased a property in Ocala, Fla., for Padua's broodmares and stallions and for a training center. Last year, however, the Sanans put the farm up for sale and moved the stallions it owns to various farms in Kentucky and Florida.

Nadia Sanan Briggs, the daughter of Satish and Anne, said that Padua currently owns approximately 40 broodmares. The farm will be used for all of Padua's operations, Nadia said.
