Overdose done for the year

The undefeated Hungarian sprint sensation Overdose is out for the year, his owner Zoltan Mikoczy announced on Friday. Plagued by hoof problems throughout his career, Overdose threw both his front shoes when winning a five-furlong stake by eight lengths at Kincsem Park in Budapest on April 19, but new shoes only worsened the problem. Having made little progress in a rehabilitation center near Nantes, France, he was sent to Amanda Perret's yard in Sussex, England, where the decision to end his season was made. Overdose will remain in England through October before returning to Budapest for the winter. A 2010 British campaign is being mapped out for him as 5-year-old.-Alan Shuback
