Outoftheclouds (4), ridden by Dave Wilson, rallies from next to last to nip Peach Blossom by a neck in the colts and geldings division of the CTHS Sales Stakes.

Outoftheclouds got up in the last jump to edge longshot Peach Blossom by a neck in the $50,000 CTHS Sales Stakes for 2-year-old colts and geldings at Hastings on Sunday.

Trained by Mel Snow, Outoftheclouds ($3.60)had one horse beat after a half-mile in 46.09 seconds in the 6 ½-furlong sprint that was contested over a sloppy track. He was still fifth in the six-horse field at the top of the stretch but jockey Dave Wilson had him moving strongly on the outside of horses. El Aguila Real, who had dueled with Peach Blossom the whole way, held on to finish third.

Final time for the race was 1:18.44.

A $1,500 purchase at last year’s local CTHS Sale, Outoftheclouds picked up $29,500 and has earned more than $40,000 for his owners, who race under the stable name Totally Unstable. Included in the ownership group is B.C. Horse Racing Hall of Fame jockey Brian Johnson.

In the fillies division, Pedro Alvarado put Amazing Rose ($14.30)on the lead and she rolled to a 2 ¼-length win in the 6 ½-furlong race. Trained by Craig MacPherson, Amazing Rose covered the distance in 1:19.14.
La Bronca made a late run to finish second. Pigtails and Embankment, the co-favorites at 3-2, finished third and fourth.

Hamel collects 1,000th win
Jockey Richard Hamel won his 1,000th race aboard Party Prospector in the sixth race.
Hamel, 41, is currently second in the jockey standings at Hastings with 64 wins.
With leading rider Fernando Perez out for the year, Hamel could be on his way to his first leading rider title in Vancouver.
