Our Josephina upsets Ohio Valley

Our Josephina needed six starts to finally win her maiden, but one race later the 4-year-old filly is a stakes winner.

The lightweight at 109 pounds in a field of six older filly and mare sprinters, Our Josephina ($16) drew off to a 6 1/2-length victory in Tuesday night's $75,000 Ohio Valley Handicap at Mountaineer Racetrack.

She was coming off a decisive victory against maidens at Churchill Downs, a 6 1/2-furlong race in which she carried 123 pounds.

Our Josephina covered six furlongs on a fast track Tuesday in 1:11.78.

Alicita My Love finished second, two lengths in front La Femme Galante. Gabrieles Princess, who had won stakes in her last two starts, faded to fifth as the 6-5 favorite.

Churchill-based trainer Emilie Fojan now has a record of 3-3-3 in 10 starts with horses she has shipped to Mountaineer this season.
