Our Dancing Babe relishes Polytrack

Email

Our Dancing Babe emerged from a strung-out field and went on to wear down front-running Bavarian Belle in the final sixteenth-mile to capture her stakes debut in the $50,000 Valdale Stakes at Turfway Park.

Ridden by apprentice Alonso Quinonez, Our Dancing Babe ($16.20) won for the third time in four starts since owner David Ross moved the Belong to Me filly from Maryland to Kentucky, where she has made every start on the Polytrack at Turfway. She finished one mile in 1:38.98.

Bavarian Belle, who held a big lead most of the way, held second, 2o3/4 lengths behind the winner and another 1 3/4 lengths before Miss A. Bomb, the 3-1 second choice in a field of 11 3-year-old fillies. Miss Taro, who drew in off the also-eligible list, was never a factor as the 2-1 favorite.

Our Dancing Babe is based at the Trackside training center in Louisville with trainer Daniel "Speedy" Smithwick Jr.
