Ouija Board to prep in U.K.

Ouija Board will not travel to Belmont Park for the Flower Bowl Stakes on Oct. 1 but will instead prepare for a defense of her Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf crown in the Group 3 Princess Royal Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

The decision was made by her trainer, Ed Dunlop, on Monday.

Ouija Board has suffered one mishap after another this year. In her seasonal debut on June 15, she suffered a stress fracture to her left foreleg and finished seventh in the Prince of Wales's Stakes. Aimed at the Group 3 September Stakes on Sept. 3, she was withdrawn after having failing an endoscopic examination three days before the race. She was then taken out of the Sept. 11 Prix Vermeille, as Dunlop felt she was not quite ready for the 1 1/2-mile race at Longchamp. At the time, the trainer said he would use the Flower Bowl as a course-and-distance prep for the Filly and Mare Turf.

The Princess Royal will be run at 1 1/2 miles, two furlongs longer than the Filly and Mare Turf.
