Ouija Board favored at York

Ouija Board will start as the odds-on favorite, searching for her third consecutive Group 1 victory at 1 1/2 miles in the $459,000 Yorkshire Oaks at York on Wednesday.

Trained by Ed Dunlop for Lord Derby, Ouija Board is attempting to emulate Ramruma, who in 1999 became the last filly to pull off the English Oaks/Irish Oaks/Yorkshire Oaks triple. On Wednesday she will be without the services of regular rider Kieren Fallon, who has been retained by Michael Stoute to ride Quiff for owner Khalid Abdullah. Johnny Murtagh will replace Fallon on Ouija Board.

Group 2 Ribblesdale winner and Irish Oaks runner-up Punctilious again will challenge Ouija Board, as will Irish Oaks third-place finisher Hazarista. Group 2 Lancashire Oaks winner Pongee, the better of the two 4-year-old fillies in the 10-runner field, and Sahool, second in both the Lancashire Oaks and the Ribblesdale, would both have to improve to press the favorite.
