Ouija Board faces threat in Nassau

Ouija Board faces a dangerous opponent in Alexander Goldrun at Goodwood on Saturday as she attempts to get back on the winning track in the $375,000 Nassau Stakes.

A 10-furlong Group 1 for fillies and mares, the Nassau was won last year by Alexander Goldrun, who ended a six-race losing since then only on

July 1, when she took the Curragh's Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Nassau distance for the second year in a row.

The highly impressive winner of the Prince of Wales's Stakes over Electrocutionist and David Junior at Royal Ascot, Ouija Board met nothing but trouble when she was fifth in Sandown's Eclipse Stakes on July 8. Trained by Ed Dunlop, she will be back with her own sex in the Nassau and reunited with Frankie Dettori.

Nannina, a two-time Group 1 winner at a mile, will be going 1 1/4 miles for the first time, as will Nasheej, a Swain filly who should relish the step up in distance.

* Thursday at Goodwood, the odds-on Yeats galloped 14 opponents into submission when he took the Group 2 Goodwood Cup. Ridden by Michael Kinane, he defeated Geordieland by five lengths, traveling the two miles on good to firm ground in a course-record 3:21.55.
