Ostrich, camel races at Lincoln

Email

Racing action takes a slightly different turn at Lincoln Race Course on Saturday afternoon, with the $20,000 Lincoln Breeders' Special sharing the headlines with a pair of exhibition races. Camel and ostrich races make their return for a third straight year, with members of the jockey colony expected to pilot the birds of a different feather and their long-legged counterparts. The previous two years have drawn a good-sized crowd. In Thoroughbred action, Bach's Homebrew is expected to make his return in the Breeders' Special for 3-year-old Nebraska-breds going one mile. Bach's Homebrew, trained by Larry Staroscik, romped to an 8 1/4-length win here May 29 when he won the six-furlong Journal Star Stakes.
