Opportunity knocks for Jubilee

Email

Jubilee had the misfortune of hooking two-time Turf Paradise horse of the meet Muir Beach in the Queen of the Green Handicap at Turf Paradise Dec. 2, and then ran into hot invader Grat in the Glendale Handicap here Jan. 6. It may be her day to shine Saturday, however, when she doesn't have to face those two runners in the $45,000 Kachina Handicap on the main track. The mile event for fillies and mares lured a field nine.

Jubilee, owned by Adam and Paul Lewis and trained by Bart Hone, invaded from California with a two-race winning streak for the Queen of the Green. She carved the pace in both the Queen of the Green and Glendale, finishing fifth, beaten 2 1/4 lengths in the Queen of the Green, and second, beaten 5 3/4 lengths in the Glendale. Daniel Vergara rides at high weight of 119 pounds.

Parioli's Legacy continues her sharp form for owners Chuck and Greg Conley and trainer Joe Toye. She comes off a game allowance win on this track at this distance Jan. 9, her first start in nearly two months. That makes for five straight in-the-money finishes for Parioli's Legacy, who should be in the hunt from the start.

Ceebegone may have the most upside in the field. Owned by Tim Hart and trained by Kent Jensen, Ceebegone has run just three times. She won her first two outings, both sprints, with a year's layoff in between the two races. After her return win here Dec. 5, she tried allowance foes and a mile for the first time here Jan. 9. She closed well to be second, beaten a nose by Parioli's Legacy. Scott Stevens rides.
