Only one win among nine in stakes

EmailPORTLAND, Ore. - Nine 2-year-olds, all graduates of an Oregon Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association sale, will square off in Sunday's six-furlong, $11,300 OTOBA Sales Stakes at Portland Meadows.

Snowbound Tiger is the field's only winner and should attract attention on that count. Snowbound Tiger, trained by Rolland Fergason, raced six times in California and notched a third and two seconds before scoring against $12,500 maidens last time out at Fresno on Oct. 6. In that five-furlong race, Snowbound Tiger pressed the pace from the outside before drawing out to a five-length victory in a rapid 57.40 as the even-money favorite.

Snowbound Tiger figures to get his stiffest competition from Delegocho, trained by Cookie Root. Delegocho ran a close third against $12,500 maidens at Emerald Downs on Sept. 16, then missed by only a head to maiden special weight rivals at this track on Oct. 7.

Delegocho will be coupled in the wagering with Bye Bye Bimp, who ran fourth against maiden special weight company in both starts to date.

The winner of the OTOBA Sales Stakes will become eligible for a $25,000 bonus. To earn the bonus, he will have to win the six-furlong Bill Wineberg Stakes on Nov. 4 and the one-mile Os West Futurity on Dec. 9.

Ex Mountain Cop won those three races last year and collected a bonus of $30,000.
