Onebadshark versus Omega Code in Cloud

Email

Nine 2-year-olds will meet in Saturday's $102,000 Ron and Jess Cloud Memorial Handicap at the Big Fresno Fair in Fresno, Calif..

The race, whose purse includes $52,000 donated in memory of the Clouds by their family, is the richest run at a California fair.

Recent maiden winner Omega Code, who graduated in his second career start as a 1-5 shot at Fairplex on Sept. 22, and Onebadshark, unraced since winning a July 14 maiden race at Vallejo, are the probable favorites.

Omega Code was favored when he ran second to Bull Market in his debut on July 24 at Del Mar.

He was a wire-to-wire winner at Fairplex in a four-furlong race.

Onebadshark was the odds-on favorite when he beat Attack Force and Mr. Technique at Vallejo. Mr. Technique has since won a pair of stakes in northern California and will meet Bull Market in the Norfolk Stakes on Saturday at Santa Anita.

Trainer Jeff Bonde has an entry with maidens Smokin Mike, who lost to Attack Force in a Sept. 26 one-mile maiden race at Bay Meadows, and Timely Jeff.

Rounding out the field are Joltin Vince, Tizza Dude, Seemore Seemore, Eyes of Moscow, and Tuff Ray.

Seemore Seemore was sixth in the Beau Brummel Stakes at Fairplex in his last start after graduating in a $40,000 maiden claimer at Del Mar on Aug. 30.

Steve Cloud, son of Ron and Jess Cloud, said: "My parents respected the sport and had a lot of friends in it, so this was one way to remember their names and enjoy it."
