One streak must come to an end

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Something has to give when Vye Me to the Moon and April Foolish meet in the feature race at Hastings Saturday, a 6 1/2-furlong optional $75,000 claiming race that drew five fillies and mares.

Vye Me to the Moon and April Foolish have each won her last three starts. Vye Me to the Moon was a very impressive winner over Gold Accent in her last start, but that was back in April and it's hard to say if she will be up to handling a very tough group of sprinters coming off of that long of a layoff. She does run well fresh, though, and considering she had been off for almost eight months prior to her latest win, she could certainly be up to the task.

Trained by David Milburn, Vye Me to the Moon has looked very sharp in her last few works and she should get a perfect stalking trip behind what could be a contested pace. David Wilson rides.

April Foolish equaled her career high Beyer Speed Figure when she beat Bullseye Bess in a $35,000 optional race Aug. 19. In a gutsy performance, April Foolish forced a very fast pace, and she fought back after getting headed at the quarter pole and held off a fast-closing Bullseye Bess. April Foolish is trained by Toni Cloutier and will be ridden by Nicky Wright.

Spirit to Spare won the last time she went this distance and, in fact, has won all three of her races at 6 1/2 furlongs. She finished second in an optional $75,000 route Aug. 19 and could be dangerous with the move back to a sprint.
