One Fine Dream stays perfect against Iowa-breds in Gray's Lake

One Fine Dream’s wide rally carried him to a comfortable victory in the $63,000 Gray’s Lake on Saturday at Prairie Meadows.

Fourth of seven in the early going, One Fine Dream bid four wide on the turn under Ramon Vazquez, seized command at the top of the stretch, and went on to a 3 1/2-length win over Scrutinizer. It was another three lengths back to 44-1 shot Scrutinizer in the six-furlong race for Iowa-bred 3-year-olds.

One Fine Dream, trained by Kelly Von Hemel for Umbrella Stables II, was timed in 1:12.14 over a fast track and paid $5.20 as the favorite. A gelded son of Woke Up Dreamin, One Fine Dream won for the third time in seven starts and is 3 for 3 against Iowa-breds.

It’s the Swede easily again

It’s the Swede won her third straight race at the Prairie Meadows meet Friday night when she captured the $63,000 Bob Bryant Stakes for Iowa-bred 3-year-old fillies by one length over Native Princess.

It’s the Swede took pressure leading through fast fractions of 21.67 and 44.89 seconds, but had enough left to win by one length over Native Princess. Karl Broberg trains the winner and also sent out third-place Who’s Smokin. It’s the Swede, who won an allowance race and the Mamie Eisenhower Stakes earlier this meet, was timed in 1:10.58 for six furlongs on a fast track and paid $3.30 as the odds-on betting choice.

Bred and owned by William Hobbes, It’s the Swede is by Yes It’s True out off the Yankee Victor mare Swede. She ran her career record to 4-1-0 from 7 starts.
