Ole Rebel upsets King's Court

Bossier City, La - Cleverly handled by Corey Lanerie, Ole Rebel charged from off the pace to spring the upset in Saturday's $50,000 King's Court Stakes at Louisiana Downs. Fellow longshot I'm Majestic also turned in a late rally to finish second while 7-10 favorite Aloha Bold was forced to settle for third.

With just two lengths separating the five horse field through an opening quarter of :21.89, Lanerie wisely took back off the pace into the turn and allowed Aloha Bold, Was My Case and Dash for Daylight to battle through a half in :44.55. Lanerie then eased his mount to the outside and Ole Rebel ($14.60) responded willingly through the stretch, stopping the timer in 1:09.74 over a fast track.

Trained by Andy Leggio for owner Glen Warren, Ole Rebel won for the sixth time in 21 starts. The 5-year-old son of Carson picked up $30,000 for his winning connections, increasing his career earnings to just over $194,000.
