Old Friends homecoming fundraiser set for May 5

The Old Friends equine retirement facility in Georgetown, Ky., will host its ninth annual Old Friends Homecoming event and fundraiser at its Dream Chase Farm on May 5.

The party will start at 3 p.m. and will feature a barbecue dinner by Furlongs Catering, live bluegrass music by Shades of Grass, farm tours, and live and silent auctions including racing memorabilia, stallion halters, jewelry, fine art, and more.

Tickets cost $25, but Old Friends members and shareholders or students with their identification cards can purchase tickets for $15. Old Friends strongly suggests reservations, which can be made at (502) 863-1775. Parking is free at the farm.

The Old Friends Kentucky facility is home to more than 60 former racehorses, among them Belmont Stakes winner Sarava, Breeders’ Cup winner Gulch, and millionaire Arson Squad. Old Friends, which also has a retirement facility in upstate New York, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that cares for more than 120 former racehorses.
