Ol Winedrinker Who captures Curribot Handicap

Ol Winedrinker Who closed into a hot pace to win the $75,000 Curribot Handicap by 2 3/4 lengths over Streaks Bro on Sunday at Sunland Park. It was another three-quarters of a length back in third to Pain and Misery.

The Curribot, at 1 1/16 miles, was for 4-year-olds and up.

Ol Winedrinker Who ($7.20) settled off the pace on Sunday, saving ground along the rail as Whine For Wine and Smack Ridge dueled thorough an opening half-mile in 46.51 seconds, with Rebranded joining the fray for six furlongs in 1:10.52. Ol Winedrinker advanced on the final turn, came five wide into the stretch, and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:42.41.

Ken Tohill rode the winner for trainer Joel Marr.

Ol Winedrinker Who races for his breeders, Sam and Sammy Stevens. He is a son of Sligo Bay. Ol Winedrinker Who has now won 13 of 37 starts and $719,003.

Earlier on the card, Dirt Monster ($4.40) was a four-length winner of the $75,000 Budweiser, an overnight stakes at six furlongs. He covered the distance in 1:07.90. The track record is 1:07.60. Dirt Monster is a son of Line of David.
