'Okey' looks All American pick


Okey Dokey Fantasy, undefeated in eight starts, including three futurities, is expected to be favored in the $2,050,000 All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs on Sept. 4 after setting the 10th-fastest qualifying time in Thursday's trials.

Ridden by Juan Vazquez for trainer John Boegner, Okey Dokey Fantasy won the ninth of 17 trials run on a sealed track. He ran 440 yards in 21.31 seconds, taking 10th and final qualifying spot.

No Secrets Here, who was third in the Ed Burke Memorial Futurity at Los Alamitos in June, set the fastest qualifying time of 21.044 seconds, winning the seventh trial.

The other qualifiers are Gun Battle (21.10 seconds), Mightys First Call (21.19), Genuine Botticelli (21.21), Separate Bet (21.22), Dont Let Down (21.22), Remember Me Rose (21.28), My First Passion (21.30), and First Freeze (21.31).

Okey Dokey Fantasy is the most accomplished of the finalists. He won the Longhorn Futurity and Manor Downs Futurity at Manor Downs, near Austin, in the spring.

A winner of $440,768, Okey Dokey Fantasy was one of five horses supplemented for $50,000 to the All American Futurity trials and the only one of them to qualify for the final field.
