Offlee Wild sold to stand in Turkey

Pennsylvania stallion Offlee Wild, the sire of recent Grade 1 winner Bayern, has been sold to stand in Turkey.

The 14-year-old son of Wild Again previously stood at Pin Oak Lane Farm in New Freedom, Pa., advertised in 2014 for a fee of $4,000. He resided at the farm for three years, relocating to Pennsylvania for the 2012 breeding season after beginning his career at Darley’s Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Ky. The sale to Tevfik Celikoglu of Turkey was brokered by Jean-Pierre Deroubaix of FBA in France and Marie Yoshida of Winchester Farm, in Lexington, Ky.

Offlee Wild has sired six crops of racing age with 179 winners and progeny earnings totaling more than $14.3 million. Bayern won the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational earlier this year along with the Grade 2 Pennsylvania Derby and Woody Stephens Stakes. Offlee Wild is also the sire of She Be Wild, the champion 2-year-old filly of 2009, as well as Grade 3 winners Acting Naughty and Hogy.

Offlee Wild won 6 of 19 starts and earned $976,325 for Lansdon Robbins’s Azalea Stables syndicate, scoring in the Grade 1 Suburban Handicap and winning three other graded stakes. Bred in Kentucky by Dorothy Matz, Offlee Wild is out of the winning Seattle Slew mare Alvear, the dam of Grade 2 winner Sangrita. He is from the family of Grade 2 winner and notable sire Dynaformer.

Offlee Wild will join former New York-based stallion Utopia among the new sires in Turkey for 2015. Utopia was purchased by Turkish interests in June.
