Officer moving to Taylor Made

Officer, the second-leading freshman sire by number of winners, progeny earnings, and stakes winners, will be relocated to Taylor Made Farm in Nicholasville, Ky., for the 2007 breeding season after an interest in him was purchased by the farm, Taylor Made said Tuesday.

Officer, a son of Bertrando out of the Septieme Ciel mare Helens Shadow, previously stood at Gainesway Farm for a 2006 fee of $15,000. Officer, who was retired after making only one start in his 3-year-old season, won three graded stakes at 2, including the Grade 1 Champagne.

In 2006, Officer's yearlings sold at auction for an average of $74,137, and his 2-year-olds sold for an average of $101,137. Taylor Made said in a release that his stud fee for 2007 would be announced next week.

Officer was raced by the Thoroughbred Corp. of the late Ahmed Salman. The colt was purchased by Gainesway and Dennis Narlinger after Salman died. While at Taylor Made, Officer will stand as a property of a syndicate.

* Kingmambo, whose yearlings sold at auction in 2006 averaged $1omillion, will have a private stud fee in 2007, the farm that stands him, Lane's End, said Tuesday. The 16-year-old stallion's fee in 2006 was $300,000. Lane's End also said Tuesday that Pine Bluff and Silver Ghost had been retired from stud duty, and that Smart Strike's fee would be raised from $50,000 to $75,000 in 2007.
