The Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s April 2-year-old sale hit a high point Thursday at its next-to-last session when Ahmed Zayat paid $460,000 for a colt by Songandaprayer.

That easily outpaced last year's sale-topping price of $375,000 for Steppenwolfer, now a Kentucky Derby contender owned by Robert and Lawana Low.

The $460,000 sale leader at Thursday's session is out of Island Lake, a winner by Meadowlake. Eisaman Equine, agent, sold the colt, who is currently named Lake Island. He is a half-brother to the winners Campo Lago, Sharp Park, Rocket's Legacy, and Lake Fortune.

Thursday's third of four sessions at OBS in Ocala, Fla., grossed $6,543,100 for 186 lots. That was up from last year's equivalent session, which sold 196 horses for receipts of $5,515,000. The average price also increased, jumping from last year's $28,138 to $35,178. It was the third consecutive day of gains for OBS's April sale, which was to end Friday.

The final session was due to begin Friday at the OBS pavilion at 10:30 a.m.
