Ocala sale preview: Indian Charlie filly works furlong in 9.8 seconds

Less than a week after one of his sons topped the Keeneland April 2-year-old sale in Lexington, Ky., Indian Charlie grabbed the headline at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's juvenile under-tack show on Wednesday.

An Indian Charlie filly working for next week's Ocala Breeders' Sales April auction was the first to breeze an eighth-mile in under 10 seconds at the four-day show. Offered as Hip No. 387, the daughter of Grade 3-placed Wawota went in 9.8 seconds. Her consignor is Hoppel's Horse and Cattle Company, acting as agent.

On Monday night, an Indian Charlie colt out of Teenage Temper brought a sale-topping price $625,000 at Keeneland from Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stables.

At Wednesday's the second of four under-tack previews for the Ocala sale, a filly by second-crop sire With Distinction put up the day's fastest quarter-mile work when she breezed in 20.6 seconds. The filly is a three-quarter-sister to Grade 2-placed Bashert and sells in Niall Brennan's consignment. She is cataloged as Hip No. 610.

The session's fastest three-eighths-mile time was the 33.4-second work by Hip No. 401, a filly from Mr. Sekiguchi's first crop. Currently named White Glove, the gray or roan filly is out of White Chocolate and is a half-sister to a pair of stakes-placed runners. Blue River Bloodstock, agent, is the consignor.

The under-tack previews were to continue through Friday at the Ocala Breeders' Sales facility in Ocala, Fla., starting daily at 8 a.m. Breezes are taking place over the facility'ssynthetic strip.

The auction will run April 18-21, also at Ocala Breeders' Sales, with sales starting at 10:30 a.m. each day.
