Ocala sale declines on day two

The Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s winter mixed sale rolled into its third and final consignor-preferred session Thursday off declines the previous day. But the top of the market in Ocala, Fla., was strong enough Thursday to produce a pair of six-figure horses by 5 p.m.

Thursday's session-leader at that point was a $170,000 yearling Songandaprayer filly that Memory of Song Stable bought from Beth Bayer, agent. The Florida-bred filly is out of the unplaced Tactical Advantage mare Janeera. The other six-figure horse by then was a $140,000 yearling Tale of the Cat colt out of Lemon Twist (Seeking the Gold). C & M Stables bought him from Moreau Bloodstock International, agent.

Wednesday's session grossed $3,122,000 for 184 lots, down 11 percent from last year, when 187 horses brought $3,509,100. The average price slipped 10 percent, from $18,765 to $16,967. The median declined 33 percent, from $12,000 to $8,000.
