OBS Spring: Three turn in fastest furlong at second breeze show

Two fillies and a colt joined the ranks of the horses to breeze a furlong in :9 4/5 seconds on Wednesday during the second day of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring sale of 2-year-olds in training under-tack show.

The fillies, by Afleet Express and Harlan’s Holiday, and the colt, by Street Boss, brought the total of juveniles to breeze in :9 4/5 seconds over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface to seven, after four fillies set the mark on Tuesday.

The Afleet Express filly is the second foal out of the placed Mr. Greeley mare Phi Beta Diva, whose first foal is a winner. Bred in Kentucky by Martin Cherry, she is consigned by Eisaman Equine, agent.

The Harlan’s Holiday filly is out of the winning Mr. Greeley mare Ruby Summer, who is the dam of three winners from five foals to race. C. Kidder, N. Cole and E. Voute bred the filly in Kentucky, and she is consigned as agent by Eisaman Equine.

Rounding out the list was the Street Boss colt, out of the unraced Forestry mare Se Bella, who has had three winners from as many foals to race. He was bred in Kentucky by Fred Hertrich and John Fielding, and will be consigned at the spring sale by Bobby Dodd, as agent.

One horse tied the fastest time for two furlongs set on Tuesday, covering the distance in :20 4/5 seconds.

The Utopia filly, who was bred in New York by McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, is the first foal out of the winning Dance With Ravens mare Private Escort. She is consigned by de Meric Sales, agent.

The OBS spring under-tack show will continue through Friday, April 18, beginning each day at 8 a.m. Eastern. The sale will be held April 21-24, starting at 10:30 a.m. Eastern.
