A Half Ours colt worked an eighth-mile in 9.80 seconds Friday to top the work tab at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s final under-tack session for the April 2-year-old sale that starts Monday.

Hip No. 1335, a half-brother to stakes-placed My Limit, was the second juvenile to cover a furlong in less than 10 seconds. Earlier in the week, an Indian Charlie-Wawota filly also went in 9.80 seconds. Hip No. 1335, a gray or roan son of Piney Woods, is consigned by Costanzo Sales.

A pair of juveniles coasted through a quarter-mile in 20.40 seconds on Friday, the fastest time for the distance at all four under-tack sessions. They were Hip No. 1037, a Yonaguska filly out of Kings Empress consigned by Hoppel’s Horse and Cattle Company, agent, and Hip No. 1049, a Macho Uno colt out of La Defense, offered by Nick de Meric, agent. The Yonaguska filly is a half-sister to a six-figure earner, Verse Choir, and the Macho Uno colt is a half-brother to stakeswinner Quelle Surprise.

Friday’s fastest three-eighths work, in 33.6 seconds, belonged to Hip No. 1099, a Master Command filly out of Little Bristol. The dark bay or brown filly hails from the Blue River Bloodstock agency’s consignment.

The workouts took place over OBS’s synthetic strip.

The auction will run April 18-21, also at OBS, with sales starting at 10:30 a.m. each day.
