OBS June: Two colts tie for fastest furlong under tack

The first day of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s June 2-year-olds and horses of racing age sale’s under-tack show was hampered by heavy rains that hung over the central Florida region on Wednesday, but the day concluded with a pair of colts sharing the fastest time for an eighth of a mile, in 9.80 seconds.

The juveniles breezed over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface, which minimized the rain’s effect on the footing for workouts.

Following are the two juveniles who tied for Wednesday’s fastest furlong.

- Hip 15, a Malibu Moon colt who is the first foal out of the Grade 3-winning Awesome Again mare Golden Mystery. His extended family includes English and French Group 3 winner Voyagers Quest, and Grade 3-placed Beloveda. Wavertree Stables consigns the colt, as agent.

- Hip 159, a Tale of the Cat colt out of the placed Unbridled's Song mare Midnight Ramble, whose first foal to race is a winner. The Pennsylvania-bred's page also includes Grade 2 winner Stanley Park, and Grade 3 winners Mo Cuishle, Tricky Squaw, and Top Kisser. Top Line Sales is the consignor, as agent.

Four horses tied for the fastest time over a quarter-mile, stopping the clock in 20.60 seconds.

- Hip 33, a Scat Daddy colt out of the winning Thunder Gulch mare Hangingbyamoment, who is the dam of six winners from seven foals to race. He is a full brother to Grade 2 winner Conquest Daddyo and a half to stakes winner Hangingbyathread. Bred in Ontario, he comes from the family of Grade 3-placed runners Mondavi, Midwest King, and Glory Cat. James Layden consigns the colt, as agent.

- Hip 177, a first-crop Jimmy Creed filly out of the winning Wolf Power mare Mon Ange, whose four foals to race are all winners. Grade 2 winner Pants On Fire is in the filly's extended family, as are Grade 3 winner Liquor Cabinet and Grade 1-placed stakes winner Key Hunter. Envision Equine consigns the filly, as agent.

- Hip 199, a First Dude colt out of the winning Kris S. mare Natalie's Moment, whose four winners from five runners includes stakes-placed Sola Gratia. Natalie's Moment is also the dam of the unraced Lady Natalie, who herself produced Grade 2-placed stakes winner Code Warrior. Bred in Florida, the colt's page also features Kentucky Derby winner Lil E. Tee, and Grade/Group 3 winners Lil Personalitee and Fromafar. Top Line Sales consigns, as agent.
