OBS June sale: two run fastest furlong at second under-tack show


A pair of juveniles turned in the fastest time for an eighth of a mile during the second day of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. June sale of 2-year-olds in training and horses of racing age pre-sale under-tack show.

The time of :9.80 seconds also gave those horses the fastest overall time during the first two sessions of the under-tack show, running over the Ocala Training Center’s synthetic Safetrack surface.

The following horses stopped the clock with the fastest time of the day:

- Hip No. 258, Puddifoot, a Red Giant filly out of the Grade 3-winning Cee’s Tizzy mare Theresa’s Tizzy, who is the dam of five winners from seven foals to race, including Grade 3 winner Got the Last Laugh and stakes-placed winner Lotto Ticket. Consigned by Eisaman Equine, agent, the Florida-bred Puddifoot is also from the family of stakes winners Theresa’s Pleasure, Lester’s Boy, Excessive Theresa and Theresa’s Year.

- Hip No. 338, an Elusive Quality colt who is the first foal out of the Distorted Humor mare Agatha. The bay colt’s page includes Japanese champion sprinter Hishi Akebono, multiple Group 1 winners Agnes World and Librettist, Group 1 winner Dubai Destination, and Group 2 winner Tatra. He is consigned by SAB Sales, agent.

Three horses tied for the fastest time at two furlongs, also setting the fastest overall time at the distance, covering the quarter mile in :20.60 seconds:

- Hip No. 335, a More Than Ready filly out of the winning Saint Ballado mare African Skyline, who has produced three winners from four foals to race. Her notable family members include Grade 1 winners Heatherten, Bull Inthe Heather, and Hyperbaric, as well as Grade 3 winner Soldier’s Dancer. Hoppel’s Horse & Cattle Co. consigns the New York-bred filly.

- Hip No. 377, a Congrats filly, who is the second foal out of the stakes-placed winning City Place mare Beauty for Ashes. The dam’s first foal is stakes winner Putyourdreamsaway, by Put It Back. Consigned by Southern Chase Farm, agent, the Indiana-bred filly’s family includes stakes winners M J’s Enchanteur, Flightofalifetime, Northern Secret, Secret Lanvin, and Chief Jay.

- Hip 461, an Exclusive Quality colt out of the winning Two Punch mare Dash Home, who is the dam of to foals to race. Bred in Florida, the bay colt’s page includes Grade/Group 1 winners Avatar and Hours After, Group 2 winner Monseigneur, and Grade 3 winner Iron Punch. He is consigned by de Meric Sales, agent.

The OBS June under-tack show concludes on Sunday at the Ocala Training Center, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Eastern. The two-day auction will be held Tuesday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 19, with each session beginning at 10:30 a.m.
