OBS June catalog available online

The catalog for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. June sale of 2-year-olds and horses of racing age is now available on the OBS website, featuring a total of 712 entries.

The two-day sale will be held June 18 and 19 at the OBS sales pavilion in Ocala, Fl., beginning each day at 10:30 a.m. Eastern, while the pre-sale under-tack show will be split into three sessions, held June 14-16, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Supplemental nominations will be accepted until May 23.

The number of horses cataloged in year’s OBS June catalog is down two percent compared with last year’s book. However, that figure could change with the late addition of supplemental entries. As it currently stands, this year’s OBS June sale features 687 juveniles and 25 horses of racing age.

Last year’s June sale posted healthy gains across the board, with 434 horses sold for total receipts of $10,667,000, up 49 percent compared with 2011. The average price of $24,579 was up 20 percent compared with the previous year, while the median rose 58 percent to $15,000.

Hill ‘n’ Dale Bloodstock purchased the highest-priced horse of last year’s June sale, bidding $350,000 on Quality Plan, a colt by Elusive Quality and out of the Dixieland Band mare Gypsy Hollow. He was consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, agent.
