OBS June: Benny the Bull colt tops second breeze show

Email

A colt by Benny the Bull completed a one-furlong breeze in 9 4/5 seconds on Tuesday to set the fastest overall time at the distance through two days at the Ocala Breeder’s Sales Co. June 2-year-olds and horses of racing age sale.

The bay colt is out of the unraced Pleasant Colony mare Tantrum, who is the dam of two winners from five foals to race. Bred in Florida by IEAH Stables, the colt is from the family of Saudi Arabian Horse of the Year Atheel and U.S. Group 3-placed Saintly Action.

Harris Training Center, agent, consigns the colt from the second crop of sire Benny the Bull.

A pair of fillies tied for the fastest time for two furlongs, completing their workouts in 21 seconds flat on the Ocala Training Center’s synthetic Safetrack surface.

Among them was a bay Majestic Warrior filly, who is the second foal out of the unraced Strong Hope mare Text Queen. The filly is from the family of Grade 1 winner Storm Tower and Grade 3 winner Mountain General. She was bred in Kentucky by Curtis Green.

The filly is consigned by Wavertree Stables, agent, and was offered at the 2013 Keeneland September yearling sale, but finished under her reserve with a final bid of $47,000.

Also turning in the co-fastest time at a quarter-mile was a bay filly by Posse, out of the multiple stakes-winning Stacked Pack mare Three Pack. Bred in New York by Akindale Farm, the filly is a sibling to five winners from six foals to race, including five-time New York-bred stakes winner Classic Pack.

The filly is consigned by Hoppel’s Horse & Cattle Co., agent, and will be offered at public auction for the third time. She hammered for $7,200 as a short yearling during the 2013 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky winter mixed sale, then brought $20,000 later that year at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic yearling sale.

The OBS June breeze show continues through Saturday, June 14, beginning each day at 7:30 a.m. Eastern at the Ocala Training Center. The sale begins Tuesday, June 17, with sessions starting daily at 10:30 a.m. Eastern through Friday, June 20.
