OBS 2-year-old sale has 362 cataloged

The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company has cataloged 362 juveniles to its March select 2-year-old sale, which will take place in Ocala, Fla., on March 13-14. Catalogs are available online at the OBS site, where updates include a sortable master index for the catalog and daily pedigree updates.

The number of horses in this year’s catalog is down from last year’s catalog of 490, reflecting in part the smaller Thoroughbred foal crop nationwide. OBS combined its February and March select auctions for the first time last year.

The 2012 catalog features juveniles by such proven sires as A. P. Indy, Arch, Bernardini, Distorted Humor, Giant’s Causeway, Malibu Moon, Medaglia d’Oro, More Than Ready, Smart Strike, and Tapit. The sale also will have horses from Curlin and Big Brown’s first crops and by top-ranking 2011 freshman sires Hard Spun and Scat Daddy.

Under-tack shows for the two-day auction will take place at OBS on March 8-9. Those breeze shows begin daily at 8 a.m. The March 13-14 auction sessions will start each day at 11 a.m.

Both the under-tack previews and the sale will stream live online at the OBS site.
