Oaklawn Park: Tiz Miz Sue ahead of schedule

Email

Tiz Miz Sue, a leading candidate for the Grade 1, $500,000 Apple Blossom at Oaklawn on April 12, is coming to hand so quickly she could make her seasonal debut a month earlier than anticipated, trainer Steve Hobby said Wednesday. Hobby said Tiz Miz Sue will likely start in the $100,000 Bayakoa at Oaklawn on Feb. 16.

“She’s doing super,” Hobby said. “It looks like I’m probably going to go in the Bayakoa. She’s coming along a little faster than expected, and I don’t want to try and hold her another month [until the Azeri]. We’ll probably go ahead and run.”

Tiz Miz Sue, who races for Cresran, won last year’s Grade 3 Azeri at Oaklawn, then ran third in the Apple Blossom. She missed by a neck to champion Royal Delta in last summer’s Grade 2 Delaware Handicap.

Hobby on Wednesday was six wins from the 1,000th Thoroughbred training victory of his career.

Wishing her all the best luck, in my opinion, she is the definition of "HARD KNOCKER ' in a mare suit. What a heart., getting better with age see you in April.
